Madrid is considered one of the top five most optimal cities, with already existing ecosystems, infrastructures and organisations that support the process to launch innovative projects.
Social Projects & Inclusive Developments.
- An inclusive project generates values and knowledge.
- An inclusive space that serves as a platform to raise awareness towards people with disabilities.
- An inclusive urban development that promotes initiatives that favor the active participation of people with disabilities in the dynamics of the neighbourhood, the district and the rest of the city.
Organisations Supported the Spanish Government (Royal Family), Community of Madrid (which has introduced Social Inclusion Strategy Plans) and the Municipality (City Council of Madrid) contact with Director of Public Relations at Palacio de Comunicaciones.
A. Aprancor (Non-profit entity) that works with autism, inaugurates new space for inclusion and opportunities, supported by the Royal Family which is committed not only with social iniciatives, but with innovation of future technologies (inauguration of Airbus New Plant in Getafe, which is innovation in the aero and space sector (developing aircrafts and manufacturing satellites and space launchers).



B. Plena Inclusión Madrid (ONG).
- Projects with Artistic Residency Program (artists and projects) and
- Gender (women and intellectual disabilities)
- On Jan 2023, Plena Inclusión Madrid and Luiz-Larrea Arquitectura are promoting inclusive and accessible architecture thanks to a new alliance established with Ruiz-Larrea Arquitectura (RLA), aimed at promoting accessible spaces in new construction or renovation projects of urban environments and buildings.
1. Municipal Hosing Agency (EMV) of the Ayuntamiento de Madrid Innovation in social housing
- Urban Plans of Action (PAU)s of Madrid. PAU Carabanchel, which has become a laboratory for experimental architecture and innovation in social hosing, in terms of design, accessibility and energy efficiency:
- Carabanchel 34 by Ruiz Larrea (in alliance with Plena Inclusio´n Madrid)
- Other state of the art constructions in PAU Carabanchelby renown architects winners of architectural international competitions
- Energy efficiency with with high sustainability developments by the EMV, for example Social Housing Development by Gª German (TAAs) in PAU Carabanchel.
2. Ecological Urban Planning: Past, Present and Future Developments
- Econeighborhood of Vallecas
- Ecobulevar (2004 – 2007) by Belinda Tato
- Madrid Río (completed in 2007) is the burial of the M-30 ring road provided a marvellous opportunity for Madrid to transform itself. It has allowed the banks of the Manzanares River that used to be on the surface occupied by a highway that run parallel on both sides of the river banks to be recovered completely. On one side, the traffic has being re-conducted underground through a system of tunnels that span more than 12 km in length, that have solved not only the traffic of the territory, but on the surface recovered the ecological system while improving the live quality of not only those leaving next to the River, but also, those in the other parts of the city that now come to enjoy this now healthy, clean and quiet natural space that is now full of live, inclusive without barriers. Activity with vicicles bycicles is perfect to get grip and understand the scale of the project. Also to be combined with Former Slaughterhouse of Madrid, nowadays, Center for Contemporary Creation (later explained).

- Proyecto RENACA by Fermín Vázquez, b720 Arquitectos: recovery of the Azca financial District and see how inclusive and visioinary this project will be. Possible visit to the studio and explanation by the architect.
3. City and Contemporary Culture. Major urban transformations in cultural facilities. Plena Inclusión Madrid (ONG) slogan: More Culture, More Inclusion.
- Count Duke Barracks Quartel Early 18th Century
- Former Slaughterhouse of Madrid: Todays Center of Contemporary Creation, with Intermediae. Possibility to Develop here an artistic inclusive workshop open to the neighbourhood.
It is part of Madrid City Council. Created in 2006 in the city’s former slaughterhouse and livestock market, it is a space of enormous value in terms of heritage, architecture and culture.
4. Innovation and entrepreneurship: Startups, accelerators, unicorns, incubators and initiatives of the Madrid City Council regarding innovation and Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- La Nave (the Nave) 2006-2012. Now fuctioning for the last 6 years. Located in an old industrial area in the South Part of the City, It is the reference innovation center of the Madrid City Council. It is a newly created entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem consolidated at the national and international level that is already bearing fruit. Today it occupies the rehabilitation of the old elevator factory. The large scale and monumentality of the 6,000m2 central nave stands out, whose central space has the capacity to hold large events with capacity for up to 4,000 people, exhibition spaces, classrooms and an auditorium with capacity for 630 people. 4 of the 100 startups that were awarded last year at the South Summit were accelerated, and some were even incubated here.
